Symbol of St. James

St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church
It's About Jesus!

Welcome!

Our vision is for St. James to be a community of believers who lift up, honor, and worship God above all else. We envision a day when the entire congregation enthusiastically lives our Christian faith by actively renewing, growing, and sharing our faith in God while serving and reaching all people.

Fall Schedule and Programming

On Sunday, September 8, 2008 we began our fall worship schedule. Worship is held at 8:00 AM and 10:45 AM each Sunday. Sunday church school begins at 9:15 AM for all ages. Children ages 3 and above travel from room to room as they learn Bible stories and about the characters from those stories. Students work on crafts, make or taste food, as they continue to learn more about the day's Bible story.

Our Adult Forum presents Living the Questions. People know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer the human race. At the same time, many have a sense that they are alone in being a "thinking" Christian and that "salvaging" Christianity is a hopeless task. What is needed is a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they've always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic.

Living the Questions is a 21 week DVD and web-based small group study exploring beyond the traditions and rote theologies in which so many people and local churches seem to be stuck. Living the Questions will help seekers and "church alumni/ae" alike in discovering the significance of Christianity in the 21st Century and what a meaningful faith can look like in today's world. Join us in Room 2 at 9:15 AM.

Our Mission

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to minister to the personal and spiritual needs of our community and ourselves by:

  • Setting an example for others by putting God first.
  • Promoting and providing meaningful worship services.
  • Understanding and addressing all aspects of diversity.
  • Providing appropriate programming and continuing Christian education to meet identified needs.
  • Serving the congregation and community by freely giving of ourselves as good stewards of our time, our talents, and our possessions in service to God.

All that we do is to the praise, honor, and glory of God.

Renewing! Campaign Update
As was previously announced, our Renewing! Campaign is off to a great start.  Over $762,000.00 has been pledged over the next three years to help enable our vision for the future.  Thanks be to God!  While the monies will be used to upgrade the property, the result will enable St. James to reach out to the community even more, enabling groups that currently utilize our facility to expand.  For more information on the Renewing! Program, please click here.  You will be able to read the latest minutes of the renovation team to stay "in the loop" on what is being discussed.

You can also find the presentation from the 2008 Annual Meeting on the Renewing project here.  A vote was taken and unanimously approved at the meeting to allow the renovation team to proceed with the project.
